Fishing Report (20 Feb 10)

Crappie:  The crappie started moving and are biting from Iron Curtain - Boy Scout.  The best way to find the crappie is to look for the boats.  Several limits were caught yesterday with many over the 2 lb range.  Fred Berryhill from Cochran caught one 2 lb 8oz. yesterday.  The best colors are popcycle, and just about any darker colored jigs.  Most fish that were caught were from 8-14 feet deep.  Come on down.

Bass: Yesterday was the first warm day, so they have nor been many bass fishermen on the lake.

Bream: Little early for the bream.

Catfish:  The catfish are still biting just about all over the lake.

Crappie:  The Crappie are doing pretty good in the upper end of the lake.  Look at the photogallery for some updated pictures.  The best colors are bubblegum/Stardust/Tennessee Shad and Blue with Chartruse Tail.  The water is warming but lots of fresh water is coming from the main river and Little River.

Bass:  Very few fishermen fishing for bass with the cold temps last week.

Bream:  No Activity

Catfish:  The bite is reel good for catfish on Cut Bait and Stink Bait

DECEMBER 1 ,2009

CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing had been slow for the last week or so , until saturday & Sunday and they really turned on. We had several limits come in both days and from both ends of the lake.Ice/dragon and midnight were two of the best baits.Most of the fish came out of 20ft. plus water. Ed Allen won the big fish contest for november.

BASS: The bass are doing FAIR on the points and up in the creeks.

The Crappie are picking up with couple of limits being brought in the last couple of days.  The channel is loaded with fish.  Locals caught good numbers fishing toward Williams landing.  Some fish were caught yesterday at the mouth of Hammock Creek.  The best colors are bubblegum/Black Blue Chartruse/Candy Corn/Popcycle.

The Bass are schooling just about all over the lake when the wind is calm.  Some were caught Saturday on the ledges and some around boat docks.  The best baits are Shaky Head Worms.

The bream are still biting on crickets and worms.  The catfish are biting pretty good on stink baits.

Fishing Report - Sept. 29th

Bass - Bass are moving in and out of the shallow water.  They are being caught early and late around the boat docks.  On flukes and lipless crank bates. Schooling bass have been found pretty much all over the lake.

Crappie - The crappie are slowly picking up.  Numbers of crappie are being caught on the flats in front of our place and across at Harvey Mill.  Most of them are being caught in 12 to 14 feet of water.  Night fishing is also picking up…..lots of shad schooling at night.

Bream and Shell Cracker - Shell Crackers and Bream are still bitting good in 3 to 5 feet of water……using crickets and green worms.

Catfish - Catfish are still eating it up……catch all you want……big and small.

CRAPPIE:  VERY SOLW

BASS: The bass are doing very well on the ledges. Deep diving crank baits and large plastic worms. There have been some schooling fish around Rocky Comfort and Little River flats.

BREAM and SHELL CRACKER: The bream have been doing GREAT late in the day , when you can fish for the rain. Crickets or worms have been good in 4-6 ft. of water.

CATFISH: They have been eating it up! 6-10 ft. of water , worms or stink bait,buy the cooler fulls.

4 th of July Report

BASS: For some the bass have been doing real well. Daniel Boyd had five fish weighing 24lbs. Saturday. Schooling fish have been caught in the mouths of most of the creeks. The big fish are still being caught on the ledges on DD-22’s and 1oz. spinner baits.

CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing has been slow the last two weeks , some are being caught on minnows in deep water.

BREAM & SHELL CRACKERS: We had a VERY good week on bream , some of the biggest of the year. Large numbers were being caught on both ends of the lake. Some big bream were caught in Harvy Mill yesterday. Big reds and crickets have done the best.

BASS:  The bass fishing is about as good as it gets. The top water action is great on Lunker Lures and Frogs , there have been a lot of good fish caught on the ledges with big spinner baits and DD22’s. They are still catching schooling fish on the south end of the lake.

CRAPPIE: The crappie are being caught trolling in 15-20 ft of water. Last week end the Georgia Slab Masters had a two day tournment on the lake , and I think they were all suprised at how many fish they were catching in JUNE.

BREAM & SHELL CRACKERS: The bream have turned back on in the last two or three days.Yesterday and this morning we have seen several large catches of BIG bream. Most have been caught on big reds or green worms. Rocky Comfort , Little River & MewsCreek have been the best for big bream.

CATFISH: the catfish have slowed down in the past week.

The Rain Has Stoped

BASS: The bass are doing quiet well . Some schooling fish have been caught off of the points on lipless crankbaits on both ends of the lake. Top water action has been great , both early and late.

CRAPPIE: The crappie are still hitting in 12-15 ft of water trolling with AWD baits. Most of them are coming from the south end of the lake.

CATFISH: the cat are hitting all over the lake on worms and stink bait.

BREAM and SHELLCRACKER: We have had so much rain and wind that the bream and shellcracker have not done much in the last week , but we are thinking they will pick up in the next few days.

We would like to WELCOME the GEORGIA SLAB MASTERS to Lake Talquin for their classic on June the 6th and 7th.The weigh in will be held at Ingrams Marina.

RAINEY DAY REPORT

Monday, May 18th, 2009

BASS: The bass have been eating it up. One man caught between 40&50 bass Saturday. Most of them are between 1&3 lbs. They are in from 5 to 9 ft of water. Trick worms and ArukaShads are doing the best.

CRAPPIE: The crappie are still gonig strong . One of the Geogia guys limited five days in a row , pulling jigs. Midnight and Acid Rain (AWD) have been the best two colors. The specks have been doing good at night on minnows and on jigs around the dock lights.

BREAM & SHELL CRACKERS: The bream are still doing good on worms and crickets in the creeks. The shell crackers have slowed down , but we are thinking that they will bed again next week.

CATFISH: THEY ARE SLAYING THEM ( EVERYWHERE )
